OST 233 Office Publications Design Lecture: 2 Lab: 2 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course provides entry-level skills in using software with desktop publishing capabilities. Topics include principles of page layout, desktop publishing terminology and applications, and legal and ethical considerations of software use. Upon completion, students should be able to design and produce professional business documents and publications.
Pre-requisite(s): OST 136 . Course is typically offered in Spring. Course has transfer restrictions - 5 years
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following with 60% accuracy according to grading rubrics:
- Create professional looking office publications such as fliers, brochures, and newsletters.
- Enhance existing office publications using advanced editing features.
- Create professional looking presentations using relevant presentation software.
- Customize existing presentations using graphics, animation, hyperlinks, and word art available.
- Deliver presentations using a variety of methods.
- Demonstrate knowledge of global differences in cultural, historical, and educational norms for final project.
