PHM 115A Pharmacy Calculations Lab Lecture: 0 Lab: 2 Clinic: 0 Credits: 1 This course provides an opportunity to practice and perform calculations encountered in pharmacy practice. Emphasis is placed on ratio and proportion, dosage calculations, percentage, reduction/enlargement formulas, aliquots, flow rates, and specific gravity/density. Upon completion, students should be able to perform the calculations required to properly prepare a medication order.
Co-requisite(s): PHM 115 . Course is typically offered in Fall. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Calculate problems involving fractions, decimals and rounding.
- Manipulate units from each system of measurement.
- Calculate dimensional analysis in conversions and dosage calculations.
- Calculate flow rate and dose per time on parenteral compounds.
- Calculate concentrations on compounded medications.
