PHM 160 Pharmacy Dosage Forms Lecture: 3 Lab: 0 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course is a study of pharmaceutical dosage forms and considerations in their manufacture. Topics include bioavailability, routes of administration, tablets, capsules, solutions, syrups, suspensions, elixirs, aerosols, transdermals, topicals, ophthalmics, otics, and other dosage forms. Upon completion, students should be able to describe the characteristics of the major dosage forms and explain how these characteristics affect the action of the drug.
Course is typically offered in Fall. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Demonstrate proficient knowledge and understanding of key terminology and concepts of pharmacy dosage forms.
- Demonstrate knowledge of various dosage forms and their effect on the drug.
- Analyze the use and purposes of having multiple dosage forms of drugs.
