SOC 240 Social Psychology Lecture: 3 Lab: 0 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course examines the influence of culture and social groups on individual behavior and personality. Emphasis is placed on the process of socialization, communication, conformity, deviance, interpersonal attraction, intimacy, race and ethnicity, small group experiences, and social movements. Upon completion, students should be able to identify and analyze cultural and social forces that influence the individual in a society.
This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA as a general education course in Social/Behavioral Sciences.
Pre-requisite(s): DRE 097 or ENG 002 Course is typically offered in Spring. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Differentiate the perspectives and methods employed in social psychological research.
- Apply the concepts of attitudes, emotions, behaviors, conformity, and cooperation in analysis of social interaction.
- Analyze the process of socialization.
- Explore the uses of social inequality.
