SPA 112 Elementary Spanish II Lecture: 3 Lab: 0 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course is a continuation of SPA 111 focusing on the fundamental elements of the Spanish language within a cultural context. Emphasis is placed on the progressive development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Upon completion, students should be able to comprehend and respond with increasing proficiency to spoken and written Spanish and demonstrate further cultural awareness.
This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA as a general education course in Humanities/Fine Arts.
Pre-requisite(s): C or better in SPA 111 . Course is typically offered in Fall, Spring, and Summer. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At completion of the course, the student should be able to do the following:
- Relate information on familiar topics in Spanish using the present tense, the present progressive, and the preterit, and basic grammar.
- Respond to questions regarding familiar situations in Spanish.
- Respond to native or near-native speech on familiar topics.
- Read short texts in Spanish.
- Compose paragraphs on familiar topics in Spanish using information received in class or acquired through personal research.
- Summarize aspects of everyday life in the Hispanic world.
