TRN 110 Introduction to Transport Technology

This course covers workplace safety, hazardous materials, environmental regulations, hand tools, service information, basic concepts, vehicle systems, and common transportation industry terminology. Topics include familiarization with major vehicle systems, proper use of various hand and power tools, material safety data sheets, and personal protective equipment. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate appropriate safety procedures, identify and use basic shop tools, and describe government regulations regarding transportation repair facilities.

Pre-requisite(s): DRE 097  or ENG 002

Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

  1. Demonstrate workplace safety and hazardous waste disposal per OSHA and EPA guidelines applicable to the transportation industry.
  2. Retrieve relevant service information from industry-standard databases on a vehicle or component.
  3. Demonstrate proficiency in hoisting vehicles and completing service repair orders.
  4. Identify basic vehicle systems, terms, and components within the transportation industry.
  5. Demonstrate proper use and care of tools and equipment in compliance with transportation industry regulations.
