PSY 237 Social Psychology Lecture: 3 Lab: 0 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course introduces the study of individual behavior within social contexts. Topics include affiliation, attitude formation and change, conformity, altruism, aggression, attribution, interpersonal attraction, and group behavior. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the basic principles of social influences on behavior.
This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA as a general education course in Social/Behavioral Sciences.
Pre-requisite(s): PSY 150 or SOC 210 . Course is typically offered in Fall and Spring. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Differentiate the perspectives and methods employed in social psychological research.
- Analyze the processes of social influence.
- Use the concepts of attitudes, emotions, behaviors, and self-concept in analysis of social thinking.
- Identify the concepts of prejudice, aggression and attraction in analysis of social relationships.
