GRD 167 Digital Photography I

Lecture: 1 Lab: 4 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3
This course introduces basic camera operations and photographic production. Topics include subject composition, depth of field, shutter control, light control, color, photo-finishing, and digital imaging, correction and output. Upon completion, students should be able to produce traditional and/or digital photographic prints with acceptable technical and compositional quality.

At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

  1. Demonstrate camera controls.
  2. Determine camera settings for proper exposure.
  3. Demonstrate control of light by creating photographic images.
  4. Demonstrate the fundamentals of composition by creating photographic images.
  5. Import digital images into editing software.
  6. Interpret digital image information.
  7. Apply corrections to digital images.
  8. Format image files to meet specifications.
