ART 241 Painting II Lecture: 0 Lab: 6 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course provides a continuing investigation of the materials, processes, and techniques of painting. Emphasis is placed on the exploration of expressive content using a variety of creative processes. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate competence in the expanded use of form and variety.
This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA as a premajor and/or elective course requirement.
Pre-requisite(s): ART 240 . Course is typically offered in Spring. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At completion of the course, the student should be able to do the following:
- Develop a consistent, personal artistic style.
- Justify artistic decisions using terms and vocabulary.
- Create paintings exploring a variety of media and techniques.
- Compare personal artwork to contemporary and historical examples.
- Create a body of work that demonstrates technical, formal, and conceptual skill using the medium of painting.
- Prepare artwork appropriately for presentation.
- Evaluate paintings through critique.
- Demonstrate the development of concepts and painting techniques by maintaining a comprehensive sketchbook.
