AHR 111 HVACR Electricity Lecture: 2 Lab: 2 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course introduces electricity as it applies to HVACR equipment. Emphasis is placed on power sources, interaction of electrical components, wiring of simple circuits, and the use of electrical test equipment. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate good wiring practices and the ability to read simple wiring diagrams.
Co-requisite(s): MAT-003 (P2 grade) or MAT 025 Course is typically offered in Fall. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At completion of the course, the student should be able to do the following:
- Demonstrate safe practices in the HVAC shop following established safety procedures.
- Apply electrical laws to calculate the current, voltage, power (watts), and resistance in electrical circuits.
- Identify electrical components and power supplies used in HVAC equipment and on schematic drawings.
- Use electrical test equipment.
- Build operational electrical circuits based on design and drawings of those circuits.
