AHR 212 Advanced Comfort Systems Lecture: 2 Lab: 6 Clinic: 0 Credits: 4 This course covers water-cooled comfort systems, water-source/geothermal heat pumps, and high efficiency heat pump systems including variable speed drives and controls. Emphasis is placed on the application, installation, and servicing of water-source systems and the mechanical and electronic control components of advanced comfort systems. Upon completion, students should be able to test, analyze, and troubleshoot water-cooled comfort systems, water-source/geothermal heat pumps, and high efficiency heat pumps.
Pre-requisite(s): AHR 114 . Course is typically offered in Summer. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At completion of the course, the student should be able to do the following:
- Demonstrate safe practices when using tools, materials, and test equipment in accordance with industry standards.
- Diagnose system performance using airflow, pressure, and electrical data.
- Identify components in water-cooled, water-source/geothermal, and high-efficiency heat pump systems.
- Compare performance and efficiency differences between standard and high-efficiency heat pumps.
- Analyze pressure, temperature, and electrical data to identify faults in the refrigeration cycle of high-efficiency systems.
