ARC 111 Introduction to Architectural Technology

Lecture: 1 Lab: 6 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3

This course introduces basic architectural drafting techniques, lettering, use of architectural and engineer scales, and sketching. Topics include orthographic, axonometric, and oblique drawing techniques using architectural plans, elevations, sections, and details; reprographic techniques; and other related topics. Upon completion, students should be able to prepare and print scaled drawings within minimum architectural standards.

Course is typically offered in Fall (when offered).
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

Develop CAD drawings and templates with appropriate units and limits.
Produce floor plans and elevation drawings for a small architectural project.
Apply the principles of orthographic representation to a small architectural project.
Apply architectural and engineering scales to a small architectural project.
Apply text, tables, and dimensions to a small architectural project.
Develop blocks and attributes to be inserted into a small architectural project.
Develop a library of symbols to be used with the CAD Design Center.
Plot CAD drawings using a large format plotter.
