AST 152A General Astronomy II Lab

This course is a laboratory to accompany AST 152 . Emphasis is placed on laboratory experiences which enhance the materials presented in AST 152  and which provide practical experience. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of astronomy.

This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA as a general education course in Natural Science.

This is a Universal General Education Transfer Component (UGETC) course.

Pre-requisite(s): AST 151  .
Co-requisite(s): AST 152  .
Course is typically offered in Spring.

Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At completion of the course, the student should be able to do the following:

  1. Make precise quantitative measurements with common measuring tools.
  2. Interpret information presented in the form of tables, charts, maps, images, and graphs.
  3. Assemble information in tabular and graphical form.
  4. Perform appropriate unit analysis.
  5. Complete a directed series of calculations.
  6. Judge whether a given conclusion/result is reasonable.
