AUT 151 Brake Systems Lecture: 2 Lab: 3 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course covers principles of operation and types, diagnosis, service, and repair of brake systems. Topics include drum and disc brakes involving hydraulic, vacuum boost, hydra-boost, electrically powered boost, and anti-lock and parking brake systems. Upon completion, students should be able to diagnose, service, and repair various automotive braking systems.
Pre-requisite(s): TRN 110 Course is typically offered in Fall. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Diagnose improper operation of brake systems.
- Repair issues in the brake hydraulic system requiring bleeding.
- Service issues in the ABS hydraulic system requiring bleeding.
- Diagnose brake drum or disc condition and refinishing needs.
- Diagnose the performance of the power booster unit.
