EDU 262 Early Childhood Administration II Lecture: 3 Lab: 0 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course focuses on advocacy/leadership, public relations/community outreach and program quality/evaluation for diverse early childhood programs. Topics include program evaluation/accreditation, involvement in early childhood professional organizations, leadership/mentoring, family, volunteer and community involvement and early childhood advocacy. Upon completion, students should be able to define and evaluate all components of early childhood programs, develop strategies for advocacy and integrate community into programs.
Pre-requisite(s): EDU 119 and EDU 261 . Course is typically offered in Fall, Spring Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At completion of the course, the student should be able to do the following:
- Compare different program structures and curriculum methods.
- Evaluate early childhood education program evaluation/accreditation tools.
- Compile information on early childhood professional, community, and statewide organizations which offer resources to child care programs, professionals, and families.
- Determine effective leadership characteristics and behaviors that impact early childhood leader performance.
- Develop early care and education advocacy strategies and implementation plans.
- Create marketing strategies for an early childhood program.
