GRD 141 Graphic Design I Lecture: 2 Lab: 4 Clinic: 0 Credits: 4 This course introduces the conceptualization process used in visual problem solving. Emphasis is placed on learning the principles of design and on the manipulation and organization of elements. Upon completion, students should be able to apply design principles and visual elements to projects.
Co-requisite(s): GRD 151 . Course is typically offered in Fall. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Generate design solutions using ideation techniques.
- Create print and digital communications and user experiences through the application of design principles, tools, and best practices in the field.
- Exhibit application of the elements and principles of visual design, color theory, information hierarchy, and typography to successfully communicate concepts across a variety of media.
- Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills for design that communicate clearly in visual, verbal, and written forms using techniques appropriate for the intended audience.
- Make collaborative team member decisions toward shared objectives with professionalism.
