HIS 112 World Civilizations II

This course introduces world history from the early modern era to the present. Topics include the cultures of Africa, Europe, India, China, Japan, and the Americas. Upon completion, students should be able to analyze significant political, socioeconomic, and cultural developments in modern world civilizations.

This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA as a general education course in Social/Behavioral Sciences. This is a Universal General Education Transfer Component (UGETC) course.

At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

Analyze the key social, political, and economic trends of the modern world.
Identify key turning points in modern world history.
Assess the impact of major discoveries and inventions on society.
Assess the impact of major movements in the arts, literature, religion, and philosophy on society.
Identify the geographical locations of important historical events.
Demonstrate historiographical skills by identifying appropriate sources, selecting and prioritizing information, and synthesizing a logical response to selected historical issues.
