HMT 211 Long-Term Care Administration Lecture: 3 Lab: 0 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course introduces the administration of long-term care facilities and services. Emphasis is placed on nursing home care, home health care, hospice, skilled nursing facilities, and other long-term care services. Upon completion, students should be able to distinguish between the different long-term care offerings, criteria for use, and benefits of the patient, resident, and participant.
Pre-requisite(s): HMT 110. Course is typically offered in Fall. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Examine the history of long-term healthcare in the US.
- Analyze the types and characteristics of long-term care facilities.
- Examine state and national standards and regulations as they apply to long-term care.
- Evaluate the process of administration for long-term care facilities and services as compared to other healthcare organizations.
- Investigate the progression of long-term care in the U.S. healthcare system.
