HOR 118 Equipment Operation & Maintenance

Lecture: 1 Lab: 3 Clinic: 0 Credits: 2
This course covers the proper operation and maintenance of selected equipment used in horticulture. Emphasis is placed on the maintenance, minor repairs, safety devices, and actual operation of selected equipment. Upon completion, students should be able to design a maintenance schedule, service equipment, and demonstrate safe operation of selected equipment.

Course is typically offered in Fall.
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

  1. Select proper equipment for a specific landscape application according to standards set by the instructor.
  2. Repair small equipment used in the horticulture and landscape industry so that it is 100% functional.
  3. Develop a written maintenance schedule for service and preventative maintenance of equipment using a guideline developed by the instructor.
  4. Demonstrate how to safely operate equipment on turf and landscape applications according to safety and industry standards.
