HSE 245 Stress Management Lecture: 2 Lab: 2 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course covers stressors and techniques for stress management. Topics include anger, assertiveness, breathing, change, coping skills, family, time management, meditation, guided imagery, and journaling. Upon completion, students should be able to identify areas of stress and the skills and management techniques for dealing with stressors.
Pre-requisite(s): HSE 110 Course is typically offered in Fall. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Identify positive and negative stimuli and stressors that initiate a reaction/response.
- Develop a plan to commit, analyze, change, and implement a positive coping/stress management strategy.
- Examine the holistic nature (mind-body-spirit) of stress management and comprehend the mind-body connection of the stress and disease process.
- Reflect on personal stressors and contributing factors, using a variety of exercises.
- Demonstrate stress management techniques.
