HYD 110 Hydraulics/Pneumatics I

Lecture: 2 Lab: 3 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3

This course introduces the basic components and functions of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Topics include standard symbols, pumps, control valves, control assemblies, actuators, FRL, maintenance procedures, and switching and control devices. Upon completion, students should be able to understand the operation of a fluid power system, including design, application and troubleshooting.

Course is typically offered in Fall, Spring
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

  1. Explain basic components and functions of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  2. Design fluid power circuits following Pascal’s Law, Boyle’s Law, or Charles’s Law principles.
  3. Demonstrate the operation of hydraulic and pneumatic components within a fluid power system.
  4. Troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic circuits in a lab setting.
