MAT 273 Calculus III

Lecture: 3 Lab: 2 Clinic: 0 Credits: 4
This course is designed to develop the topics of multivariate calculus. Emphasis is placed on multivariate functions, partial derivatives, multiple integration, solid analytical geometry, vector valued functions, and line and surface integrals. Upon completion, students should be able to select and use appropriate models and techniques for finding the solution to multivariate-related problems with and without technology.

This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA as a general education course in Mathematics.

Pre-requisite(s): C or better in MAT 272  .
Course is typically offered in Fall, Spring
Course has transfer restrictions - 20 years

Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

  1. Perform operations with vectors in two- and three-dimensional space.
  2. Apply calculus to vector-valued functions.
  3. Determine the limits, derivatives, gradients, and integrals of multivariate functions.
  4. Solve problems in multiple integration in various appropriate coordinate systems.
  5. Evaluate line and surface integrals with appropriate models and techniques.
  6. Use technology to solve application problems.
