TRF 220 Turfgrass Calculations

Lecture: 2 Lab: 0 Clinic: 0 Credits: 2
This course introduces the specific math concepts and calculations necessary in the turfgrass industry. Emphasis is placed on calibration of equipment used in the application of fertilizers and pesticides and calculation of solid materials used in construction. Upon completion, students should be able to correctly perform basic calculations and calibrations and estimate materials needed in specific professional turfgrass management situations.

Course is typically offered in Fall.
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

  1. Calibrate turfgrass and landscape maintenance equipment to ensure proper functionality and application efficiency.
  2. Calculate the amount of solid materials required for landscape construction projects based on project specifications and guidelines.
  3. Measure pesticides accurately for landscape and turfgrass applications following industry safety standards and best practices.
  4. Estimate the cost of pesticides, seed, and fertilizers required for a specific turfgrass installation based on project scope and materials.
