TRN 140 Transportation Climate Control Lecture: 1 Lab: 2 Clinic: 0 Credits: 2 This course covers the theory of refrigeration and heating, electrical/electronic/pneumatic controls, and diagnosis and repair of climate control systems. Topics include diagnosis and repair of climate control components and systems, recovery/recycling of refrigerants, and safety and environmental regulations. Upon completion, students should be able to diagnose and repair vehicle climate control systems.
Pre-requisite(s): TRN 110 Course is typically offered in Spring. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Implement workplace safety in a lab setting per OSHA and EPA guidelines for climate control systems found on transportation vehicles and equipment.
- Perform the diagnosis and repair of climate control systems in transportation vehicles or related equipment using recommended lab equipment and service information.
- Perform the proper recovery and recycling procedures for refrigerants in a transportation vehicle or related equipment using EPA-recommended equipment.
- Operate climate control testing equipment to aid in the diagnosis of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
- Implement the use of appropriate service information and capacity charts for climate control systems.
