SEC 180 Information Assurance Principles Lecture: 2 Lab: 2 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course introduces students to the concepts of layered and comprehensive Information Assurance best practices. Topics include user defensive measures, edge defensive measures, along with confidentiality, integrity and availability of enterprise data with the business continuity concepts of: redundancy, disaster recovery, incident handling, compliance and auditing. Upon completion, students should be able to plan effective information assurance strategies.
Course is typically offered in Fall. Course has transfer restrictions - 10 years
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Explain the five core principles of Information Assurance.
- Describe the key elements of information security, information risk management, & control families as prescribed by information assurance best practices.
- Create a disaster recovery plan.
- Compare effective information assurance strategies.
