MEC 161 Manufacturing Processes I Lecture: 3 Lab: 0 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course provides the fundamental principles of value-added processing of materials into usable forms for the customer. Topics include material properties and traditional and non-traditional manufacturing processes. Upon completion, students should be able to specify appropriate manufacturing processing for common engineering materials.
Course is typically offered in Fall. Course has transfer restrictions - 20 years
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Distinguish various primary metal working processes.
- Research new manufacturing processes of materials in Class assignment.
- Distinguish similarities and differences in processes for forming metallic materials.
- Identify similarities and differences in manufacturing processes for composites.
- Describe the material identification selection process through written assignments.
