HUM 180 International Cultural Explorations Lecture: 2 Lab: 3 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course provides a framework for students to visit, examine, and analyze a country/region outside the United States to learn about the place and people. Emphasis is placed on the distinctive cultural characteristics of a country or region. Upon completion, students should be able to identify similarities/differences, analyze causes/effects, and clearly articulate the impact of one or more cultural elements.
This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA as a premajor and/or elective course requirement.
Course is typically offered in Check with your department. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Demonstrate respect for global diversity, including races, religions, subcultures, and ethnicities.
- Research through firsthand experience another culture and lifestyle through study, travel, and immersion.
- Develop critical thinking by reading, writing, and discussing topical information relevant to an international experience.
- Cultivate a better understanding of one’s own culture in comparison to another culture through international travel.
