HRM 228 Mixology

Lecture: 1 Lab: 4 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3
This course provides instruction and demonstration for the practice of bartending. Emphasis is placed on set-up, including equipment/supplies/glassware; and production/service of alcoholic beverages including, but not limited to, beer, wine, cocktails, mixed/blended drinks, and specialty products. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate the basics of mixing alcoholic beverages in a commercial bar, tavern or nightclub setting.

Co-requisite(s): CUL 110 ,CUL 135  and CUL 135A .
Course is typically offered in Spring.
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

  1. Summarize local, state and federal laws pertaining to the purchase and service of alcoholic beverages.
  2. Demonstrate the top 25 mix drink processes.
  3. Identify different techniques of mixology.
  4. Prepare for Serve Safe Alcohol certification.
  5. Prepare for TIPS certification.
