HRM 228 Mixology Lecture: 1 Lab: 4 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course provides instruction and demonstration for the practice of bartending. Emphasis is placed on set-up, including equipment/supplies/glassware; and production/service of alcoholic beverages including, but not limited to, beer, wine, cocktails, mixed/blended drinks, and specialty products. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate the basics of mixing alcoholic beverages in a commercial bar, tavern or nightclub setting.
Co-requisite(s): CUL 110 ,CUL 135 and CUL 135A . Course is typically offered in Spring. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Summarize local, state and federal laws pertaining to the purchase and service of alcoholic beverages.
- Demonstrate the top 25 mix drink processes.
- Identify different techniques of mixology.
- Prepare for Serve Safe Alcohol certification.
- Prepare for TIPS certification.
