BPM 110 Bioprocess Practices

This course provides a study of plant operations including various plant utility systems and detailed study of the varied plant environments in a bioprocessing facility. Emphasis is placed on quality mindset and principles of validation through applications of monitoring procedures. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate the rigors of industry regulation and its necessity.

Upon completion of the course, students should be able to do the following:

  1. Explain the operation of key utility systems in bioprocessing facilities.
  2. Describe the importance of different types of bioprocessing environments in maintaining product quality and compliance.
  3. Describe integration of key principles of validation into the monitoring of bioprocesses.
  4. Employ Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  5. Explain the significance of industry regulations in bioprocessing operations.
  6. Identify potential challenges in plant operations based on bioprocessing practices and industry regulations.
