HOR 273 Horticulture Management and Marketing Lecture: 3 Lab: 0 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course covers the steps involved in starting or managing a horticultural business. Topics include financing, regulations, market analysis, employer/employee relations, formulation of business plans, and operational procedures in a horticultural business. Upon completion, students should be able to assume ownership or management of a horticultural business.
Course is typically offered in Fall Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, students should be able to do the following:
- Develop a comprehensive business plan tailored to the needs of a horticultural enterprise, including financing and operational procedures, according to industry standards.
- Analyze market trends and regulations to make informed decisions about the feasibility and success of a horticultural business.
- Demonstrate effective employer/employee relations strategies to foster a productive and positive work environment within a horticultural business.
- Apply principles of market analysis to identify and target appropriate customer segments for horticultural products or services.
- Evaluate financial strategies and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and sustainability in the management of a horticultural business.
