The Paralegal Technology Certificate will help you fast-track your legal career.  If you are a college graduate looking for an accelerated path to enter the legal field, GTCC’s Paralegal Technology Certificate can prepare you in as little as one semester (18 credits).  Designed for career changers, those interested in advancing an existing legal career, or as preparation to attend law school, our graduates work in law offices, real estate, corporate, and government employment.

The Paralegal Technology curriculum prepares individuals to work under the supervision of attorneys in performing routine legal tasks and assisting with substantive legal work. A paralegal/legal assistant may not practice law, give legal advice, or represent clients in a court of law.  Some of our graduates choose to continue their education in law school and use the Paralegal Certificate as the first step in launching a successful career as an attorney.

To be admitted to the Paralegal Certificate program, you must have completed an associate or bachelor’s degree which includes at least eighteen semester credits of general education courses, in any field of study.

The North Carolina State Bar has designated Guilford Technical Community College as a Qualified Paralegal Studies Program.  Guilford Technical Community College is an institutional member of the American Association for Paralegal Education (AAfPE). Graduates of the Paralegal Technology Certificate are eligible to take the North Carolina Paralegal Certification Exam.
