The curriculum is for students interested in earning an Associate of Engineering (AE) degree and transferring to North Carolina A&T State University to attain a bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering. This program is a co-admission program with North Carolina A&T State University. Students must complete the co-admission application and meet the following admission criteria:
- Minimum SAT combined (math and verbal) score of 1080 with a minimum SAT math score of 520 or a minimum ACT composite score of 21 with a minimum ACT math score of 21. Students who score between 500 and 550 on the SAT math portion are encouraged to enroll in a precalculus course prior to officially beginning the program.
- Minimum high school GPA of 3.2 (weighted)
- Students must be willing to commit to full-time, i.e. accumulate a minimum of 32 credit hours of coursework during each year of the program (fall, spring and summer term).
- Completion of a FERPA authorization enabling GTCC to share student academic performance information with N.C. A&T for the purpose of academic and program advising.
- Completion of a background check at the time of admission to NC A&T.
Requirements for Progression
Students must meet the following progression requirements to continue in the co-admission program:
- Maintain full-time status, i.e. accumulate a minimum of 32 credit hours of coursework during each year of the program (fall, spring and summer term).
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5
- Complete the requirements for an Associate in Engineering degree at GTCC.
Through the co-admission program, students will be enrolled at both GTCC and NC A&T while completing their AE degree at GTCC and subsequently earning their BS in Industrial and Systems Engineering at NC A&T. Students will also have access to academic and student services at both institutions during their AE coursework, ensuring a seamless transition to NC A&T to complete their upper-division coursework.
Successful students transferring this AE degree from GTCC to North Carolina A&T State University will be given full credit for the courses listed below and have junior standing. If a student transfers before completing an AE degree, they will be required to apply as a transfer student to North Carolina A&T State University.
Upon successful completion of this degree, graduates will be able to:
- Develop multidisciplinary engineering projects using engineering principles.
- Analyze contemporary issues affecting the engineering profession.
- Apply scientific, mathematical, and engineering principles to solve technical engineering problems.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills through technical report writing and oral presentations.
