ASM 112 Aero Assembly Methods I

Lecture: 1 Lab: 3 Clinic: 0 Credits: 2
This course introduces the planning, fabrication, and assembly methods used in aerostructure manufacturing and repair processes. Emphasis is placed on working in teams, fabrication, tooling and assembly processes, change management principles and configuration controls. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the concepts and principles used in the manufacturing, assembly and repair of aerostructures.

Pre-requisite(s): ASM 110 
Course is typically offered in Fall, Spring, and Summer.
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

  1. Evaluate how aircraft sealant prevents corrosion.
  2. Properly use manufacturing paperwork common to aircraft manufacturing.
  3. Examine the engineering processes used in aircraft manufacturing and repair.
  4. Install common aircraft fasteners used in aircraft manufacturing and repair.
  5. Demonstrate proper drilling and countersinking techniques used in aircraft manufacturing and repair.
  6. Demonstrate proper riveting techniques used in aircraft manufacturing and repair.
