CIV 125 Civil/Surveying CAD

Lecture: 1 Lab: 6 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3
This course introduces civil/surveying computer-aided drafting (CAD) software. Topics include drawing, editing, and dimensioning commands; plotting; and other related civil/surveying topics. Upon completion, students should be able to produce civil/surveying drawings using CAD software.

Pre-requisite(s): EGR 115  or CEG 151 
Course is typically offered in Fall.
Course has transfer restrictions - 20 years

Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At completion of the course, the student should be able to do the following:

  1. Student will understand the basics of CAD as used for Civil/Survey Drafting.
  2. Interpret and create simple survey plats from sketches and or legal description.
  3. Read and interpret Civil/Survey Plans.
  4. Use CAD to develop layers and line types applicable to Civil/Survey standards.
  5. Develop surface models using points data.
  6. Know the principles of profiles and develop same using CAD.
  7. Understand the concept of bearings and its application to property layouts.
  8. Understand the use of mapping and drafting symbols and terminology.
