LOG 235 Import/Export Management

This course introduces the elements of import and export operations, from transportation to documentation, finance, and security and the effects on the global supply chain. Emphasis is placed on existing import/export regulations, customs documentation, intermodal transportation, foreign freight forwarders, global technology, and homeland security initiatives. Upon completion, students should be able to perform import/export operations, channels of distribution, implemented technologies, and associate with operating a secure supply chain.

Pre-requisite(s): LOG 125  and INT 110 .
Course is typically offered in Spring.
Course has transfer restrictions - 10 years

Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

  1. Assess how international logistics infrastructure affects global logistics execution.
  2. Compare aspects of international contracts with US contract law.
  3. Apply standard international commercial terms (INCO) to modes of to international business models.
  4. Prepare international commercial documents that follow proper procedures for Import and Export operations.
  5. Analyze the impact that different monetary currencies and resulting exchange rates will have on international business transactions.
  6. Relate known transportation logistics principles to international transportation of goods.
