LOG 250 Advanced Global Logistics

Lecture: 3 Lab: 2 Clinic: 0 Credits: 4
This course covers the advanced application of global operations and logistics strategies, planning, technology, risk, and management necessary to cope with the global business environment. Emphasis is placed on an in-depth understanding of global sourcing, shipping, tracking, and e-logistics systems necessary to operate inbound/outbound logistics in a global market. Upon completion, students should be able to identify the different global markets and logistics technology available to process International inbound/outbound logistics transactions.

Pre-requisite(s): LOG 125  and LOG 215 
Course is typically offered in Spring.

Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

  1. Construct a time-driven activity-based costing model to demonstrate how logistics costs are determined.
  2. Develop transportation plans that meet the needs of a specific company.
  3. Develop a global distribution plan that meets the needs of a specific company.
  4. Determine appropriate sources for goods and services needed by a specific company.  Manage a basic data system that provides timely accurate feedback on a company’s logistics systems.
  5. Understand current global technology trends and applications in Logistics functions.
