MED 240 Exam Room Procedures II

This course is designed to expand and build upon skills presented in MED 140. Emphasis is placed on advanced exam room procedures. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate enhanced competence in selected exam room procedures.

Pre-requisite(s): Admission to the Medical Assisting Program and MED 140 .
Course is typically offered in Fall.
Course has transfer restrictions - 2 years

Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

  1. Perform the clinical procedures required in a medical office at a level of 2 or higher according to the lab assessment checklist in the simulation lab.
  2. Achieve in the simulated lab an 85% or great on the Final Practical Skill Evaluation (limited to one attempt)
  3. Apply critical thinking skills to demonstrate the relationship between common diseases and treatments and apply to all procedures on a comprehensive written final exam at a 75% or higher.
