MUS 142 Ensemble II Lecture: 0 Lab: 2 Clinic: 0 Credits: 1 This course is a continuation of MUS 141 . Emphasis is placed on the development of performance skills and the study of a variety of styles and periods of ensemble literature. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate skills needed to participate in ensemble playing leading to performance.
This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA as a premajor and/or elective course requirement.
Pre-requisite(s): C or better in MUS 141 . Course is typically offered in Fall and Spring. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Prepare songs that will lead to an end-of-the-semester performance.
- Use music terms and symbols as encountered in ensemble literature through class rehearsals, group discussion, and sectional practice.
- Interpret a variety of musical styles through dialogue, rehearsal, and performance.
- Exercise proper stage deportment in concert settings through actual performance.
