AUT 151 Brake Systems

This course covers principles of operation and types, diagnosis, service, and repair of brake systems. Topics include drum and disc brakes involving hydraulic, vacuum boost, hydra-boost, electrically powered boost, and anti-lock and parking brake systems. Upon completion, students should be able to diagnose, service, and repair various automotive braking systems.

Pre-requisite(s): TRN 110.

Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

Diagnose improper operation of brake systems using manufacturer service information and recommended equipment.
Bleed the brake hydraulic system.
Bleed the ABS hydraulic system.
Refinish brake drum to a specific diameter using recommended equipment and manufacturer service information.
Refinish brake rotor on a vehicle to a specific final rotor thickness using recommended equipment and manufacturer service information.
Evaluate the power booster unit using manufacturer service information.
