AVI 110 Aviation Maintenance-General Lecture: 10 Lab: 15 Clinic: 0 Credits: 15 This course introduces general subjects related to all aspects of aircraft maintenance. Topics include mechanic privileges/limitations; math and physics; basic electricity; aircraft drawings; maintenance forms; fluid lines/fittings; weight and balance; corrosion control; and ground operations. Upon completion, students should be prepared to pass the FAA knowledge, oral, and practical exams for the general portion of the mechanic’s certificate with either the airframe or powerplant ratings.
Pre-requisite(s): DRE 098 or ENG 002 and MAT 003 (P2 grade) Course is typically offered in Fall and Spring. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Complete required calculations associated with physical principles to a Level 3 Standard.
- Determine the relationship of voltage, current, and resistance in electrical circuits to a Level 3 Standard.
- Draw sketches of repairs and alterations to a Level 3 Standard.
- Complete required maintenance forms and records to a Level 3 Standard.
- Demonstrate comprehension contained in aircraft publications to a Level 3 Standard.
- Perform tasks relating to Materials and Processes best standards of practice to a Level 3 Standard.
- Install rigid and flexible fuel lines and fittings to a Level 3 Standard.
- Perform complete weight and balance check and record data to a Level 3 Standard.
- Clean Aircraft materials in accordance with Acceptable Practices to a Level 3 Standard.
- Operate aircraft on the ground to a Level 2 Standard.
