BUS 121 Business Math Lecture: 2 Lab: 2 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course covers fundamental mathematical operations and their application to business problems. Topics include payroll, pricing, interest and discount, commission, taxes, and other pertinent uses of mathematics in the field of business. Upon completion, students should be able to apply mathematical concepts to business.
Pre-requisite(s): MAT 003 (P2 grade) Course is typically offered in Fall and Spring. Course has transfer restrictions - 10 years
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At completion of the course, the student should be able to do the following:
- Construct basic Excel worksheets, formulas, and functions.
- Relate methods of solving for the unknown to a variety of problem scenarios.
- Calculate payroll.
- Express markups/markdowns of goods.
- Perform time-value-of-money calculations for a variety of business applications.
- Translate business outcomes employing common business statistics.
