OST 153 Office Finance Solutions Lecture: 2 Lab: 2 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course introduces basic bookkeeping concepts. Topics include entering data in accounts payable and receivable, keeping petty cash records, maintaining inventory, reconciling bank statements, running payroll, and generating simple financial reports. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate competence in the entry and manipulation of data to provide financial solutions for the office.
Pre-requisite(s): Take CIS 110 , CIS 111 or OST 137 . Course is typically offered in Fall. Course has transfer restrictions - 5 years
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Define basic financial transactions for a business.
- Perform calculations using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Convert fractions, decimals, and percents to other formats.
- Define the purpose of banking documents, including deposits, checks, and reconciliations.
- Calculate net pay using various types of payroll methods (e.g. hourly, salary, commission).
