ART 284 Ceramics II Lecture: 0 Lab: 6 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course covers advanced hand building and wheel techniques. Emphasis is placed on creative expression, surface design, sculptural quality, and glaze effect. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate a high level of technical competence in forming and glazing with a development of three-dimensional awareness.
This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA as a premajor and/or elective course requirement.
Pre-requisite(s): ART 283 Course is typically offered in (check with department). Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Create a portfolio of ceramic artwork with a high level of technical, formal, and conceptual skill.
- Create original ceramic artwork using hand building and wheel throwing techniques.
- Demonstrate technical competence in glaze application and surface design.
- Explain the ceramics production process.
- Evaluate ceramic artwork through critique.
- Demonstrate design concepts and ceramics techniques with a comprehensive sketchbook.
- Prepare artwork appropriately for presentation.
