GRD 142 Graphic Design II Lecture: 2 Lab: 4 Clinic: 0 Credits: 4 This course covers the application of visual elements and design principles in advertising and graphic design. Topics include creation of various designs, such as logos, advertisements, posters, outdoor advertising, and publication design. Upon completion, students should be able to effectively apply design principles and visual elements to projects.
Pre-requisite(s): C or better in ART 121, DES 135, or GRD 141 . Co-requisite(s): None Course is typically offered in Spring. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Generate design solutions using ideation techniques.
- Utilize hand skills in designs and presentation of work.
- Explain the four major printing processes.
- Formulate design solutions appropriate to the parameters of assigned projects.
- Assess design solutions through class critiques.
- Produce a design that can be separated on the computer within project parameters.
- Create designs using appropriate tools and software.
- Compose design solutions appropriate to client’s needs.
