BPM 111 Bioprocess Measurements

Lecture: 3 Lab: 3 Clinic: 0 Credits: 4

This course covers a variety of physical measurements. Emphasis is placed on pH, temperature, pressure and flow rates, as well as spectrophotometry, and biochemical and chemical analysis methods. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate and perform many aspects of process monitoring.

Pre-requisite(s): BPM 110
Course is typically offered in Spring
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
Upon completion of the course, students should be able to do the following:

  1. Perform calibration, operation, and maintenance of pH measurement instruments in bioprocess environments.
  2. Manage critical process variables, ensuring process stability and efficiency in biomanufacturing operations.
  3. Apply the principles of spectrophotometry to monitor process variables in biochemical analysis.
  4. Perform key biochemical and chemical analytical methods to meet industry standards.
  5. Analyze process data from various measurements.
