AHR 211 Residential System Design Lecture: 2 Lab: 2 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course introduces the principles and concepts of conventional residential heating and cooling system design. Emphasis is placed on using tables, worksheets, and/or appropriate software to calculate a residential load based on Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) standards. Upon completion of the course students should be able to calculate a heating and cooling residential load.
Course is typically offered in Spring. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At completion of the course, the student should be able to do the following:- Apply ACCA Manual J and D standards to residential heating and cooling loads.
- Identify the airflow capacities of duct components.
- Calculate heating and cooling loads using Manual J tables.
- Select appropriate heating and cooling equipment based on load calculations.
- Apply psychrometric principles to HVAC system design for residential applications.
