AHR 212 Advanced Comfort Systems

Lecture: 2 Lab: 6 Clinic: 0 Credits: 4
This course covers advanced comfort systems for residential and commercial applications. Emphasis is placed on the application, maintenance, and servicing of residential and commercial advanced comfort systems. Upon completion, students should be able to test, analyze, troubleshoot, and service multiple types of residential and commercial advanced comfort systems.

Pre-requisite(s): AHR 114 .
Course is typically offered in Summer.
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At completion of the course, the student should be able to do the following:

  1. Demonstrate safe practices when using tools, materials, and test equipment in accordance with industry standards.
  2. Diagnose system performance using airflow, pressure, and electrical data.
  3. Identify components in water-cooled, water-source/geothermal, and high-efficiency heat pump systems.
  4. Compare performance and efficiency differences between standard and high-efficiency heat pumps.
  5. Analyze pressure, temperature, and electrical data to identify faults in the refrigeration cycle of high-efficiency systems.
