ELN 260 Prog Logic Controllers Lecture: 3 Lab: 3 Clinic: 0 Credits: 4 This course provides a detailed study of PLC applications, with a focus on design of industrial controls using the PLC. Topics include PLC components, memory organization, math instructions, documentation, input/output devices, and applying PLCs in industrial control systems. Upon completion, students should be able to select and program a PLC system to perform a wide variety of industrial control functions.
Pre-requisite(s): ELC 131 and ATR 112 (Local) Course is typically offered in Fall. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At completion of the course, the student should be able to do the following:
- Describe the functions of programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- Create ladder logic programs using math and move instructions.
- Identify PLC components and human machine interfaces (HMI) needed in industrial control functions.
- Troubleshoot PLC system and program faults in industrial control systems.
