EGR 251 Statics Lecture: 2 Lab: 2 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course covers the concepts and principles of statics. Topics include systems of forces and moments on structures in two- and three-dimensions in equilibrium. Upon completion, students should be able to analyze forces and moments on structures.
Course is typically offered in Fall. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, students should be able to do the following:
- Resolve forces and moments in two- and three-dimensional systems.
- Construct accurate free-body diagrams for particles and rigid bodies.
- Apply equilibrium equations to determine support reactions.
- Analyze trusses, frames, and machines using equilibrium principles.
- Evaluate internal forces in structural members under static loading.
