COS 115 Cosmetology Concepts III

Lecture: 4 Lab: 0 Clinic: 0 Credits: 4
This course covers more comprehensive cosmetology concepts. Topics include safety, product knowledge, salon management, salesmanship, skin care, electricity/light therapy, wigs, thermal hair styling, lash and brow tinting, superfluous hair removal, and other related topics. Upon completion, students should be able to safely and competently apply these cosmetology concepts in the salon setting.

Pre-requisite(s): C or better in COS 111  and COS 112 .
Co-requisite(s): COS 116.  
Course is typically offered in Summer.
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
At the completion of the course, the student will successfully demonstrate, with 70% accuracy on an exam, each of the following skills as assessed using the NC State Board guidelines:

  1. Identify the anatomy of the human body.
  2. Classify the forms of electricity.
  3. Explain the proper use of light therapy.
  4. Determine the relationship of chemistry in the salon.
  5. Design a career business path.
